Concept

My brief was to pitch an idea surrounding an editorial concept. The editorial shoot will surround the idea and theme of girlhood and the transition from girlhood to womanhood. The photography and styling will surround the concept of the beauty and empowerment of girlhood and girl culture, and the idea that women grow into adults, they have to put their toys away and live in the real world, where they must be strong and brave in this sometimes cruel world. The shoot will be a series of images. The photographs are an accumulation of images representing girls with other girls getting ready to go out. playing in fields, dancing, braiding each other's hair, laughing, telling secrets, and being authentically themselves. The images consist of doll-like outfits representing the idea that women have to grow up and throw away their toys and innocence to be seen as powerful. This will also be displayed as the are playing with a doll's house. Representing the need to find their inner child and girlhood, something that has been lost within the cruel reality of adulthood.
